Black Newzio is a community-produced digital publication focused on highlighting and promoting what’s going on in our Black communities across the country, from business to education, from entertainment to fashion, health & fitness, youth community & much more!
“The problem isn’t a lack of great businesses, business ideas, or resources in the Black community, the problem is the lack of opportunities to share what our communities have to offer in all areas,” said Cory Crosby, CEO of Innovated Dreamz. Innovated Dreamz, a business coaching agency out of Columbia, Missouri focused on helping Black entrepreneurs launch and grow their ideas and ventures.
The Innovated Dreamz Team includes CEO, Cory Crosby, COO, Erica Dickson, Brittany Hilderbrand, Darren Dawson, Jackie Byas & Tawny Brown, all Black, all entrepreneurs, and all dedicated to helping grow Black business communities.
The team decided to revisit their focus after organizing the first virtual expo and pitch competition event in their city, which was a huge success, gaining over 4.4k views via Facebook Live.
The Dreamz Team determined that what they wanted to do was focus on creating more opportunities to promote Black businesses and highlight other things going on in African American communities, through advertising and marketing. After some intense brainstorming, the decision to create and launch a digital magazine called Black Newzio was made. “There’s a lot of great things happening in our communities but definitely a lack of positive exposure”, said COO of Innovated Dreamz, Erica Dickson.
Black Newzio Is Innovative & Different!
What makes Black Newzio so different is that its content is produced by black community members of all different backgrounds from across the country, giving readers a wide range of topics to choose from based on their interest.
One of the biggest challenges African American entrepreneurs face outside of not having equal access to business loans from traditional lending institutions and a limited amount of ways to promote their businesses, in the same manner, other businesses are promoted. Over the last year, after protests across the country and reports showing very few small Black businesses received Covid relief aid, “Supporting Black-Owned Business” has become very popular. Innovated Dreamz wants to see people do more than support Black-Owned Business because it’s trending, they want people to see the value African Americans have to offer the world in all areas.
